Single Whip- Hexagram 49 (mist over fire) “Revolution”. 4 seasons caused by earths revolution from axis completeing itself. “body rotates in a gentle flowing motion like wind.” Attack is aimed at chest.
Play guitar- Hexagram 17 (mist above thunder)-“Following” :mist-joyous and oval shaped; thunder-arousing, foot. 2 hands with foot to twist the opponents arm.
Shoulder Strike- Hexagram 34 (thunder over heaven)- “Power of the Great”. thunder- arousing; heaven- strong, moving forward.
Crane Spreads Wings- Hexagram 22 (mountain above fire)-“Grace”. Flying creature of hexagram. Wings protecting high and low.
Brush knee- Hexagram 52. (thunder above thunder)- “Keeping Still”. When it comes time to stop then stop, when its time to go then go, this movement and rest do not miss the right time.
Punch Abdomen- Hexagram 15. (earth above thunder)- “Modesty”. Modesty and a gentle and non-aggressive stance. It is favorable to attack with force to chastise the disobedient.
Cross Hands- Hexagram 36. (earth over fire)- “Darkening of the Light”. Sunset image. The sage remain bright in the night.
Fist Under Elbow- Hexagram 27. (mountain above the thunder)- “Nourishment”. Ready with sharp eyes, like a tiger with unsatiable craving.
Step Back and Repulse Monkey- Hexagram 33. (heaven over thunder)- “Retreat”. Gently applying energy into a retreating counter attack.
Slant Flying- Hexagram 59. (wind above water)-“Dissolution”. Gentle and penetrating.
Needle at Sea Bottom- Hexagram 62 (thunder above mountain)-”Smallness in Excess”.
Fan through the Back- Hexagram 26. (mountain above heaven)- “Taming Power of the Great”. Heaven within the mountain, open the fan.
Turn Body and Strike with Fist- Hexagram 28.(wind above mist) “Prepondence of the Great”. Be extremely careful, one can strike from behind. Smash gently, body turning.
Hit Tiger- Hexagram 42.(mist above thunder)-“Increase”. Gentle blow to ribs.
Kick with Toes- Hexagram 4. (mt. above water)- “Youthful Folly”. Turn body to kick. Defensive.
Punch Double Fisted- Hexagram 21. (fire above thunder)- “Bitting Through”.
Turn 180 degrees to kick- Hexagram 25.(heaven over thunder)- innocence”. Under heaven thunder rolls.
Wave Hands Like Clouds- Hexagram 3. (water over thunder)-“Growing Pains”. Still within chaos, moving peacefully like clouds in sky.
Snake Creeps Down- Hexagram 7.(earth over water)- “Soldiers”. In the middle of earth is water. Stability.
Rooster on one Leg- Hexagram 61 (mist above wind)- “Inner Truth”.
High Pat Horse- Hexagram 56.(water above mountain)- “Wanderer”. Empty inside strong outside.
Separate Feet and Kick- Hexagram 51. (thunder above mountain.)- “Arousing”. Image of shock. Kick delivered to opponents shocks like a clap of thunder.
